1585-1634 Dutch Hendrick Avercamp Galleries Hendrick Avercamp (bapt. January 27, 1585, Amsterdam - buried May 15, 1634, Kampen (Overijssel)) was a Dutch painter. Avercamp studied in Amsterdam with the Danish-born portrait painter Pieter Isaacks (1569-1625), and perhaps also with David Vinckbooms. In 1608 he moved from Amsterdam to Kampen in the province of Overijssel. Avercamp was deaf and was known as "de Stomme van Kampen" (the mute of Kampen). As one of the first landscape painters of the 17th-century Dutch school, he specialized in painting the Netherlands in winter. Avercamp's paintings are colorful and lively, with carefully crafted images of the people in the landscape. Avercamp's work enjoyed great popularity and he sold his drawings, many of which were tinted with water-color, as finished pictures to be pasted into the albums of collectors. UDEN, Lucas van
Flemish painter (b. 1595, Antwerpen, d. 1672, Antwerpen). Flemish painter, draughtsman and engraver. He was the son of Artus van Uden (b 1544), town painter of Antwerp, and grandson of Pieter van Uden (i) ( fl 1553), founder of a noted tapestry and silk factory in the city. Lucas was probably trained by his father and in 1626-7 was enrolled in the Antwerp Guild of St Luke as a 'master's son'. On 14 February 1627 he married Anna van Woelput (d 1667). On 31 December 1649 he was registered as no longer living in the city,
Willem van Mieris
(3 June 1662, Leiden - 26 January 1747, Leiden) was a Dutch painter. He was a son of Frans van Mieris sr. and brother of Jan van Mieris. His works are extremely numerous, being partly imitations of the paternal subjects, or mythological episodes, which Frans habitually avoided. In no case did he come near the excellence of his sire. van Mieris has works in the Victoria and Albert Museum as well as Cheltenham and Derby Museum and Art Gallery
